Joint venture wine between Chapoutier and José Bento dos Santos. Made in Portugal’s Estremadura at Quinta Monte d’Oiro from Syrah and Touriga Nacional.
I cannot imagine the vines are particularly old but the Syrah leather dominates this wine, which is noticeably ‘cooler’ than, say, Victor de la Serna’s Spanish Touriga Nacional grown at Finca Sandoval in Manchuela. A neat, well balanced, not too sweet mouthful. Oak just slightly prominent but a very exciting wine to follow.
